Deep Electrodes Sydenham to Bankstown Upgrade: Competence in the Rail Corridor
Australia’s biggest public transport project, Sydney Metro, is currently underway in Sydney. The project involves station upgrades and conversions, and the addition of more than 66km of new metropolitan rail line. The Sydney Metro complements the existing Sydney Trains railway.
John Holland and Laing O’Rourke were awarded the contract for works associated with the Southwest upgrade of the line between Sydenham and Bankstown to Sydney Metro standards, and for major rail work at Sydenham.
They brought Earthing Solutions on board to drill and install seven deep electrodes in the rail corridor at Marrickville. The site was narrow and difficult to access, and all machinery had to be floated in on high rail equipment and unloaded and uploaded at each location. With precise planning and coordination Earthing Solutions was able to complete the work on a single possession weekend.
The project highlighted the skills, experience, and capabilities that Earthing Solutions maintains and guarantees.
Rail industry training
Earthing Solutions is highly experienced in working in the rail corridor. All personnel have undertaken the Rail Industry Worker (RIW) training which covers rail terminology, signalling, electrical safety, and regulations for people working in the rail corridor. This RIW training is augmented by inductions and certifications for specific rail projects.
Compact drilling equipment
Working in the rail corridor often involves tight, hard-to-access locations. Earthing Solutions has invested in specialised equipment for such projects, like small but powerful drilling equipment that can be manoeuvred into tight spaces and is capable of drilling down to great depths in any conditions.
Rail corridor experience and reputation
Earthing Solutions has provided earthing services for numerous projects in the rail corridor in Greater Sydney. The company has developed a reputation for reliable delivery in this setting.
