Earthing Solutions upgraded the earthing system for Sydney Trains Boronia Tunnels #1 and #2 Project in Cowan. The work involved:

• Upgrading the earthing system on the high voltage overhead poles
• Installing electrodes for the new padmount substation
• Supplying and installing 4 x 4.8m, 2 x 5.3m, 2 x 6m, 1 x 13m, 2 x 20m, 2 x 28.2m and 2 x 30m electrodes

Challenges: The earthing upgrade was carried out adjacent to the electrified rail corridor. Specialist drilling equipment was required to drill up to 30m holes in rock requiring RISI-trained skilled drilling operators.

Result: The works were completed over two weekends according to the client’s requirements and satisfaction.
